The Seafood Restaurant has opened its new doors
The Seafood Restaurant opened its new doors on Saturday 2nd February after a two and a half million pound refit.
"After more than 30 years we decided it was time for some improvements. The restaurant
will be bigger and the best bit will be the seafood bar right in the middle. You will be able to sit there and order anything from the menu without booking. A couple
of chefs will be assembling
platters of oysters, langoustines and, almost better still, Japanese sushi and sashimi." Rick Stein.
The restaurant closed for refurbishment following New Year's Day lunch and became home to builders and contractors working night and day for the month of January. The extension to the restaurant has resulted in an extra 30 seats as well as providing a new entrance for both the restaurant and rooms. There will also be much improved toilets, a new wine cellar, two extra bedrooms and a terrace for pre dinner drinks overlooking the harbour. The kitchen is bigger too with a new fish preparation area, new grills and fryers and a very fierce wok burner for turning out the best chilli crab and stir fried
mussels with black beans and ginger.
"We think the new restaurant is going to be lots of fun. We've put all our paintings back on the walls and it all looks really friendly and bright, the atmosphere will be a
bit more lively and informal than before but, with the extra space, I think the service will be better." Said Rick.
We look forward seeing you in the refurbished Seafood Restaurant.
