“I’ve visited Winchester since I was a boy, my brother was educated at Winchester College. My son Ed lives just outside Winchester and over the years I’ve become more and more enamoured with the city. If I wasn’t based in Padstow I’d definitely be living in Winchester. Hampshire has a great wealth of specialist food producers, many of whom I included in my Food Heroes book. People like Charles du Parc at Lymington Larder deli, Martin and Audrey Bazeley at Suthwyk Ales in Fareham and Jody Scheckter at Laverstoke Park are really passionate about what they do.”
