Our Beer & Mussel Festival is nearly here!

You might be looking forward to lighter evenings, budding spring flowers along the hedgerows and a rise in temperature this March, but here in Padstow we are bursting with excitement with our fast approaching Beer & Mussel Festival! We’ve put together our top highlights to look out for this year, but you can see the full line up here.

The beers
St. Austell Brewery have excelled themselves with their selection of local brews this year. We recommend starting with a session beer like the Padstow Pale Ale or Teignworthy Brewery’s Reel Ale, with a couple of stronger ales through the day like Dartmoor Brewery’s Jail Ale, or Hunters Brewery Pheasant Plucker. Feeling brave? Our strongest ale this year is Proper Black from St. Austell Brewery. With notes of malt, coffee, grapefruit hints and a touch of liquorice – at 6% ABV it really packs a punch. Not a beer drinker? Don’t worry we have 13 different ciders for you to sample.
The menu
Our menu is bigger than ever this year with curries, hot dogs and churros with hot chocolate sauce. The dish to watch out for this year though is Butrint mussels, a brand new addition to the menu for 2016. Discovered by Rick and Jack in Albania, it changed their opinion that seafood and cheese shouldn’t be mixed – they loved the ouzo and feta combination so much they insisted it went on the festival menu.
The entertainment
How could we possibly choose the best entertainment over the festival weekend? With a line up of top chef demos, RBS 6 Nations, local live music, Cornish comedian Kernow King and of course our very own Rick Stein in the line up, it’s impossible to choose! See the full list of entertainment here.
