Supervisor at our cookery school in Padstow.
Laura helps to keep our chef lecturers organised and gives guests a fab experience as supervisor at our cookery school in Padstow. Originally from Maidstone in Kent, she relocated 300 miles across the country in 2017 – being by the coast makes her happy, so where better to start a new life by the sea than Padstow? She started out as a waitress at the café, a place she had dined at whilst on holiday and loved the relaxed vibe and Asian inspired menu, including her favourite dish Pondicherry cod curry. Six months on, fully settled in and with a desire to further develop her knowledge of Rick’s dishes, Laura took on the role of supervisor at our cookery school where she works closely with Head Chef Lecturer Nick to wow guests with the warmest of welcomes. She loves this role because of the amount it teaches her and how happy the guests are after spending a day in the kitchen – oh, and the food isn’t bad either!
Prior to moving down to Cornwall, Laura’s life was dedicated to all things sport, particularly athletics. She studyed a degree in Sports Science and Coaching and then a masters in Human Physiology and Performance – both at Brunel University. This took her onto a role in the NHS as a clinical research in human physiology in both Kent and London. After four years of arduous commuting, a new life in Cornwall was calling… Her mum also made the move down to Padstow and luckily for us joined our team too – working in the café, patisserie and seafood bar.
Away from the cookery school, Laura loves getting outdoors – whether it’s as a member of the Padstow gig club, spending time at her favourite Cornish beach, Crantock or learning to surf.
