Sous Chef at Rick Stein, Fistral

Rachele, our Sous Chef at Fistral, has always had a passion and love for food, something she’s inherited from her mum (and something that probably comes from being half Italian). She started her career baking in a small deli in her hometown of Darlington and before joining our team worked in a small tapas bar/café where she quickly took the lead in the kitchen.

She joined our team as Sous Chef last summer at the age of 21 and plays a key role in supporting the kitchen team here at Fistral, working alongside Head Chef, Paul. Rachele’s advice for anyone looking to start their career as a chef is to go with the flow. “You’ve got to be passionate about food!” Her passion for food is contagious and it’s inspiring to see how she has taken something she loves to do as a hobby and turned it into a career.

In her spare time, she is a keen hiker and in 2012 climbed the highest mountain in North Africa, part of which required a hike through snow! She also has a love for dogs, particularly her sausage dogs Wilber and Sidney!
