We are very proud of our 40th Anniversary white Burgundy, Charlie went to the Maconnais to choose it with Jill, Roni and Jack. Lovely balance, great fruit.
Saint – Véran 2013 Julien Collovray
Julien’s signature wine, sourced from St Véran vineyards that are soon to be awarded 1er Cru status, has a wonderful, rich and opulent mouthfeel, with stone-fruit flavours, a slight floral lift and weighty body. Wonderful, affordable Burgundy from one of the great Mâconnais producers.
Meursault 1er Cru Genecriéres 2012 Domaine Michelot
This blended wine is produced from a number of parcels with very different soils. The key to this wine lies in the blending of the different “terroirs” to create a wine which is opulent and fruity but with great finesse on the palate.
Domaine Henri Richard 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Corvées
An intense cherry coloured wine with purple undertones. Scents of ripe black fruits, peony and white pepper lead way to a rich, complete, elegant and fleshy mouth feel of blackberry, violet and toast.
Cremant de Bourgogne Grande Cuvee NV Veuve Ambal
A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this Burgundy Crémant offers remarkable complexity. It is full, well-structured and balanced on the palate. Aromas of red and citrus fruits dominate, but the nose has hints of flowers and butter too.
Charlie is the youngest of Rick and Jill’s three children and having grown up in Cornwall now works for The Vintner wine merchants in London. He helps Rick and Jill taste and select all the wine for our restaurants – a difficult task, but someone’s got to do it!
Jack is our executive chef, overseeing the company’s pub, cookery school and restaurants in Cornwall and beyond as well as its brigade of chefs.
