Hosted by Charlie Stein
Your host for the weekend, Charlie knows a thing or two about great wines. He'll be on hand to share his expertise and love of great wine.
As Rick says in Long Weekends, there’s nothing quite so exciting as the prospect of flying off somewhere for the weekend and I couldn’t agree more. Bordeaux was the natural choice for his first trip for the long weekends series; a perfect city for a short visit and a place we know well from quite a few visits to Château Bauduc, owned by Gavin and Angela Quinney who make one of our biggest-selling house wines.
I’m looking forward to following in his footsteps as part of our very own long weekend in June and hope you can join us for a memorable few days of enjoying the best wine and food Bordeaux has to offer.

The charming farmhouse at Château Bauduc will be your base for the weekend, the restored 18th century stone house overlooks the vineyards and backs on the farm buildings and cellars where their wine is made and aged.
There is a lovely south facing garden, a delightful outdoor eating area under a vine-covered trellis where you’ll be enjoying leisurely meals, and you’ll also have the use of the heated swimming pool.
On arrival on Friday, there will be a light lunch served at the Château with local charcuterie, cheeses and bread, of course served with a glass of wine or two!
Dinner at the Chateau will be a celebration of classic regional south west French cuisine, accompanied by Château Bauduc wines and served under the vine covered trellis, echoing Rick’s own dining experience as part of his Long Weekend.
For breakfast you’ll enjoy fresh bread and pastries from some of the best boulangeries in the Gironde, with plenty of fresh coffee to start your day.
Château Pichon Baron, Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the great historic vineyards of Bordeaux. Hosted by Christian Seely, you’ll enjoy a tour of this uniquely charming and romantic chateau, have an opportunity to taste their wines and enjoy a leisurely lunch.
Rick visited this much loved restaurant as part of his own Long Weekend sampling gratton with radishes, roast chicken, côte de beouf, wood pigeon roasted in duck fat and wrapped kidneys with caul.
You’ll enjoy an evening of local cuisine, with a 3 course sharing menu including local meats, duck foie gras terrine, rib of beef, ‘Macaronade’ and roasted chicken, finished with an assortment of desserts and accompanied by wines selected by Charlie.
Saint-Emilion is a unique area located in the heart of the famous Bordeaux wine area. It’s a charming medieval village that brings together world-famous wineries, fine wine and beautiful architecture.
Located in the heart of Bordeaux, Le Noialles is described as ‘the most Parisian brasserie in Bordeaux’. It’s mirrored interior, red velvet benches, murals by Dauguet and waiters dressed in black waistcoats and white aprons, provide the timeless backdrop to the fine cuisine served daily.
