Cornwall UK break

Staycations are on everyone’s minds at the moment. A short UK break somewhere rather nice for a few days of well-deserved rest and relaxation. To us, this means escaping to the coast, to Cornwall, to follow Rick’s recent travels around the county unearthing food and drink hotspots, walking routes to explore, galleries to mooch around and historic locations in which to marvel.

Read on to find out more about your next break in Cornwall…

Stay in the heart of Padstow

Perfect for a couples break in Cornwall, our 40 hotel rooms in Padstow are everything you could want for a few night’s away – large comfortable beds, crisp linen, beautiful bathrooms, some with freestanding baths, and all stays include a very good breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring. You’ll find out most luxurious rooms at St Edmund’s House, which is tucked away behind The Seafood Restaurant, each with four-poster beds, plenty of space to relax and private parking just metres from your room. If you plan to make the most of the outdoors on your break a smaller, but equally lovely room, might be what you’re after – in which case the three rooms at Rick Stein’s Café would be ideal. You could wander downstairs for breakfast each morning and be out the door ready to find new walks all before 9am.

Self-catering breaks

As well as our hotel rooms in Padstow, you can also join us on self-catering family breaks in Cornwall to stay at Trevone Farm or Martindale.

Trevone Farm is home to two luxury 3 bedroom properties that are dog friendly, just a ten minute wander from the beach and coast path and a short drive away from Padstow too. Both have large open-plan living spaces, excellent kitchens and double bedrooms to ensure your family break is a memorable one,

Martindale is a four bedroom dog-friendly holiday cottage in the the sleepy village of Penrose, around a 15 minute drive from Padstow. Beautifully restored by Jill Stein a few years ago, it’s a real home from home in the Cornish countryside where you can escape to for a a few days or even a week.

Great food and drink, of course

No staycation in Cornwall would be complete without some really great food and drink. Whether you want to experience 45 years of dining history at The Seafood Restaurant, trying Rick’s favourite turbot hollandaise is a must, or enjoy the nostalgia of eating takeaway fish & chips on the harbour whilst listening to seagulls quark around the fishing boats.

Away from Padstow, visiting the beer garden at The Cornish Arms for a pint of St Austell Tribute is always a pleasure on a sunny day and if you love sea views (silly question), grab a bench on the terrace at Rick Stein, Fistral to watch the surfers in action and choose from a menu inspired by Ricks’s travels around Asia, plus classic fish & chips.

Special places to explore

Cornwall is home to hundreds of varied beaches, miles of coast paths, peaceful woodland walks and more to make your staycation super special. Read our blogs to plan your Cornwall break bucket list here.
